Sanya signs on

The resort city of Sanya in Hainan, China, will be a stopover on the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race.

The resort city of Sanya, in Hainan Province, the southernmost region of China, has joined the 2011-12 race route. Sanya, the sole Asian stopover, will host the finish of leg three, which starts from Abu Dhabi.

    The United Arab Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi, has been included in the 2011-12 race route. A racing team from Abu Dhabi will also be on the start line in Alicante, Spain in the autumn of next year.
